The Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has fixed their COVID treatment rates to check profiteering by private hospitals during the current pandemic.

Today a Video Conference (VC) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was held. And soon after this COVID review Video Conference (VC) meeting this decision was announced, reported PTI.

After getting complain of over charging, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, had asked the Talwar committee and the state health and family welfare department to work out the rates after discussions with private hospitals.

Dr K.K. Talwar Committee, finalised rates, for Private Hospitals and Medical Colleges by cover isolation beds, ICU treatment and hospitalisation charges, per day of admission.

As per report from News agency, the state government on Thursday issued an order to fix Rs 10000 as daily charge for all private medical colleges and Rs 9000 for NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers). Non-NABH accredited hospitals are allowed to charge up to Rs 8000 per day for moderate sickness.

For severe sickness requiring ICU care without a ventilator, the daily rates have been capped at Rs 15000, Rs 14000 and Rs 13000 respectively for the above-mentioned categories of hospitals.

The government order has also fixed the rates for treatment of very severe covid-19 patients who require critical care at Rs 18000, Rs, 16500 and Rs 15000 for all private medical colleges, NABH-accredited hospitals & non-NABH accredited hospitals respectively.

According to the statement released by the government all the above-mentioned rates are inclusive of PPE cost.

Dr. K.K. Talwar committee has also fixed the per day admission rates for private hospitals for mild sickness cases at Rs 6500, Rs 5500 and Rs 4500, respectively.
