Uttarakhand: As the police personnel in Uttarakhand are fighting the Coronavirus pandemic being on the ground, the wives of some of the policemen are making masks for the public at home.
According to the reports, wives of some of the policemen in the state are making masks and supplying them to the local police departments for the police and the ones who can’t afford them.
The women involved in this initiative are proud to contribute in the way they can. “I feel very happy and proud that at least we are also contributing in this fight against the deadly Coronavirus like so many others,” said Kiran Chandra, wife of a constable in US Nagar.
35-year-old Kiran reportedly said that she has to rake out time from her schedule and has to look after her 2-year-old son.
She said, “I have a son and I have to make sure that he sleeps while I make masks during the daytime. It is quite difficult for me to manage but I am happy to do this for humanity during these testing times.”

Further, she informed that the district police department’s women welfare center provides the raw material such as cloths and bands for the masks.
The women bring the raw material home and make masks as per the specifications of the World Health Organization. Kiran also informed that she makes 15 masks a day in two hours. Like Kiran, 26-year-old Sunit Devi is doing the same.
“While my husband is doing his duty every day from 7 am to 7 pm, I make sure to do contribute in this fight by making masks,” says Sunita, wife of a constable in Champawat district.
Other than these two ladies, Upasna Rana is a policewoman and a housewife. Yet she takes out time to make the face masks.
She reportedly said, “I and my husband are police constables in Champawat district. I serve my duty from morning 6 am to 1 pm and my husband serves his night shift duty in the local area. I also take care of my children and do my household chores. Other than that, I spare some time to make the face masks.”
Ashok Kumar, Director General of Police appreciated the efforts of the housewives for their efforts. He said, “We can only win this pandemic if we fight it together while sharing responsibilities.”
