Mumbai: Around 500 employees of the Taj Mahal Palace and Taj Mahal Towers hotel, located in the heart of Maharashtra- Mumbai, have been tested positive for Coronavirus.
According to the reports, the Indian Hotels Company, the chain which runs the Taj Hotel, has been hosting doctors and medical staff from state-run hospitals. However, the hotel has been shut for the visitors because of the nationwide lockdown.
The hotel authorities reportedly said, “Approximately 500 of our employees who are at work in our Mumbai hotels have been tested to date. Most of the employees who have been tested positive were asymptomatic and showed no signs of illness.”
“However, the staff tested positive have been admitted to the hospital and the people who came in contact with them have been quarantined according to the WHO’s norms and guidelines,” the hotel authorities said.
Further, they said that there were no guests present in the hotel. Only a few staff members like housekeeping, security, maintenance, and dining were present.
On the other hand, the number of Coronavirus positive cases in the Dharavi area of Mumbai is rising rapidly. The reports say that 43 people have been tested positive so far. There are seven lakh people who live in Dharavi. The authorities say that they will increase the screening and testing in the area.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reportedly said, “The BMC is screening the families present in all the areas that have been sealed. The cases coming are a result of contact tracing and screening of contacts of positive cases.”
