On March 25, the Prime Minsiter had announced the 21 days nationwide lockdown in order to stop the spread of Coronavirus. Prime Minister also held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of different states of the country.

Hints of the extension of lockdown were given in the meeting. Also, many state chiefs were in the favor of extending the lockdown. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal supported the extension of lockdown.

“PM has taken the correct decision to extend the lockdown. Today, India’s position is better than in many developed countries because we started the lockdown early. If it is stopped now, all gains would be lost. To consolidate, it is imp to extend it,” wrote Arvind Kejriwal post-meeting, giving the hint of the extension.

State governments of Telangana, Punjab, Odisha, Maharashtra and West Bengal have already extended the lockdown. However, the final call on a nationwide lockdown is still awaited from the Prime Minister.
