We have all heard that we must live in present. Aren’t we living in the present? Yes! We do. However, most of us are lost somewhere while working, doing our chores. We get up to do some work but end up scrolling Instagram on our mobile phones.
Being mindful, being attentive is necessary. It is very important because one can’t daydream all the time. Being mindful makes you more aware of your surroundings. Also, it helps you improve your productivity. If you are mindful enough, you will have a clear idea of what are your jobs for the day and you will live in the moment. Here are 10 simple ways to be mindful.
10 easy ways to practice mindfulness
Do you eat your food while watching TV or scrolling your mobile phone? If yes, then you need to change your habit. You miss the delicious taste of the food when you indulge yourself in something else while having a meal. So, the first simple step is to eat mindfully. Just eat when you eat and drink when you drink. No other work at all!
Be a single-tasker
Another easy way to practice mindfulness is to do one task at a time. Do not try to be a multi-tasker if you find it difficult. Just do one chore at a time. Multi-tasking won’t help you if you want to be mindful. You need to slow down a bit. You will just be indulged in the work altogether and won’t focus on anything else. However, you won’t have to split your focus if you do one task at a time.
Pause between actions
Pause while you do small actions. For example- Pause for a second when you pick up your phone. Just hold yourself for a second when you open up your laptop and start your work. Remember the task you are going to do ahead.

Be a good listener
Sometimes, someone wants to share all their feelings with you and you just indulge yourself in some other work while they speak. Another important and easy step to practice mindfulness is to listen wholeheartedly. Properly listen to the person who is speaking and then indulge yourself in the conversation.
Observe your breathing
Observing your breath is also a simple way to practice mindfulness. It takes you out of your mind and into your body. Breathing is something that happens rhythmically. When you observe your breath, free yourself from all the thoughts that give you stress.
Meditation is a solution to hundreds of problems. It clears your mind, brings positivity, and helps you live in the moment. Meditation helps you be happy, it increases your energy levels and also, your inner peace. Even 15 minutes can help you out for the whole day.
Be a good observer
Another simple step is to observe what is happening around you. Sometimes, you just put in your headphones and get into your work. You have no idea what is happening around you. If you want to be mindful, be aware of what is happening around you. Be a good observer. Be aware (In a positive manner).
Don’t stick to a single routine
Sticking to a single routine can also make your day-to-day life monotonous. When you break the monotony, be at a new place, be with new people for a while, you automatically become more mindful. So, once in a while, break the monotony and change your routine. Take a new way to the office, do not go to your favourite café. Try out a new place.
Take short breaks between work
It is just like taking mini-pauses before starting work. When you feel like you are completely indulged in your work, just for a minute, take a break. It will not distract you, but you will gather some energy and be in the moment.
Observe your emotions
Sometimes, you become unable to control your thoughts and emotions. Though it is important to let them flow, however, it isn’t necessary all the time. Also, sometimes try to resist yourself to get carried away with a particular thought. Just a simple pause in between can help.
