Woman positive of coronavirus gives birth to a healthy baby
In an incident that took place in Delhi on Friday night, the wife of a senior doctor of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences gave birth to a healthy baby.
Shockingly, the lady herself tested positive of the highly contagious coronavirus. But however, the virus was not passed on to the newborn.
This is the first a baby is born to a patient positive of Coronavirus in Delhi. The resident doctor tested positive of the virus along with his brother and wife earlier this week. He is associated with the physiology department of AIIMS.
After which he was admitted to the new private ward for further multiple testing and evaluation.
The AIIMS doctor said that he attended a farewell party after which a thorough contact tracing has been carried out in order to find out if anyone else has got infected with the virus.
After the incident, 8 doctors were found out contracted with the coronavirus.
Later on Wednesday, 3 doctors in Delhi tested positive of the novel coronavirus. Two of them were from Safdarjung hospital located opposite AIIMS and the other one was from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hospital.
Till now, the COVID-19 in India has been widely spreading across the country. And the unexpected hike in the cases has been linked to the controversial religious gathering held by the Islamic group Tablighi Jamaat. The gathering took place in south Delhi later in March.
As per the latest reports, 2,902 cases have been discovered among which 2,650 are confirmed positive of coronavirus. Along with this 184 recovered cases have been recorded and 68 deaths so far.
