New Delhi, October 2, 2024 — In a heartwarming tribute to the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, over 500 cadets from the 5 Delhi Girls Battalion NCC, Kirti Nagar, organised an inspiring cleanliness drive and street play (Nukkad Natak) at India Gate on October 1, 2024. This event was a part of the Swabhav Swachhata Sanskaar Swachhata (4S) campaign, aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

The Additional Director General (ADG) of the Delhi Directorate was present at the event, lending support and encouragement to the cadets. More than 4,000 visitors gathered at the historic India Gate, witnessing the cadets’ energetic efforts to spread awareness about the importance of keeping public spaces clean.

The cadets conveyed a simple yet powerful message through their street performance: “Littering isn’t just a bad habit; it’s harmful to the environment.” They emphasized how proper waste disposal—by using the right bins—can protect the beauty and cleanliness of our surroundings.

As part of the 4S campaign, the cleanliness drive was not just a symbolic gesture but a real effort to inspire citizens to take responsibility for their actions. Visitors were reminded that maintaining clean streets and public spaces is a shared duty, not only for aesthetic reasons but for the health of the environment and future generations.

The event ended with the cadets and public taking an oath to uphold cleanliness in their daily lives, followed by the stirring sounds of the NCC song and the National Anthem. The sense of unity and purpose was palpable, as the crowd joined hands to reflect on the importance of working together for a cleaner India.

The Swabhav Swachhata Sanskaar Swachhata campaign, launched under the broader Swachh Bharat Mission, is a call to instill the values of cleanliness and civic responsibility in every citizen. The cadets’ efforts, alongside the public’s positive reception, marked another step toward realizing the dream of a cleaner, healthier nation.
